I have also posted this in New Lounge:

Please please will you all go to the ILPH website (www.ilph.org) and link to the Make a Noise website where you can either donate money or volunteer to fundraise or write letters to MPs, etc. to help improve conditions for the thousands of horses transported for slaughter, mostly to Italy. Despite stronger regulations regarding maximum travel times, resting, etc. these rules are regularly ignored and some horses can travel for up to 4 days in a lorry, sometimes in very hot temperatures.

Their plight is heart wrenching and all I have to do is think of my beloved mare ending up on a wagon bound for Italy and not only do I feel physically sick but I have actually taken some action now and signed up to help.

Please, please do whatever you can.

Hi pinkweasel - it's Emily

the horse transportation is absolutely disgusting, the tv advert made me cry.

I'm signing up now to become a campaigner!

My daughter is taking a gap year after finishing sixth form this summer and wants to work with the ILPH; she's tough (unlike me who's weak and weepy!) and is happy to work with the ILPH in slaughterhouses. There is no way I could do it, but I'd never try to stop her. All I can say, feebly, is to hope she knows what she's letting herself in for!

Thanks for your replies guys and I take my hat off to keeperscottage's daughter for being able to be at the sharp end, something I could never do, I am far too wet, I would just want to kill anybody involved with the cruelty.

My mare us due to foal in May and there are truckloads of people who want to come and see the foal - I plan to ask each and every one of them if they have enjoyed seeing a new foal in wonderful and priveleged circumstances - to donate for Make a Noise, after all even weanlings are taken which have never been travelled before.

YO donated money to it instead of having xmas drinks, and asked all liveries to fill in the letter with their details to send to MotEC in Brussels. He asked for them to be given to him by today so he could post them all together, so far he has had ZERO!!! Out of sight out of mind.
