im a bit confused... with trailblazers rules

RULES:
1. juniors riding ponies (148cm & under) must not have attained their 17th birthday by the 1st day of the national championship show.
4. senior classes open to horses over 148cms. Therefore equines of 148cm are not eligible for this senior competition
5. seniors riding equines 148cm & under are not eligible for qualification to the 2nd rounds

well im in a dilema...
i am 17 in june, and my pony is 14.2...

so what do i do?
i cant qualify for the 2nd rounds because of this.
mum has debated getting her remeasured as she thinks she is more like 14.3 - and therefore a horse. but how much does it cost to get remeasured and the passport changed?
i cant lie about my age because people will be there that know me.

HELP please? i am going to go, but will be soo gutted if i qualify if i cant go to the 2nd rounds :'(

thats what i thought too; ultimately i want to do BSJA. but need to prove myself in unaff events such as trailblazers before my parents will fork out for it lol

Trailblazers wont allow you to register a pony as a horse which is what the BSJA does. I know someone who has hugely debated this rule with them and they refuse to alllow adults on ponies as they think that it is unsafe... If you are planning on keeping your pony then I would get it remeasured so that it is a horse (if you can, but also bare in mind how it would cope with distance etc) but if you are going to sell it then I would leave it well alone.

There are other unaffiliated championships such as the championships of GB, UK riders and OTECC that will allow you to compete.

i should be ok with strides; as i have to really collect her in combinations in ponies to get the right stride; she's a pony but rides like a horse.. with a very long stride!!
 
So when you were 16 & under & your equine was 148cms you were very happy with that & didn't need to lie about equine height or your age. Now that you are over 16 (or will be) you are not happy. You cannot lie about your age for obvious reasons, but are happy to possibly lie about your equine's height? Yes equines do change height & grow but usually by the time they are 7 or 8 they have reached their mature height. Maybe your equine is within this age range ? Trailblazers may well have very good reasons for their rules & are trying to be fair. As the saying goes - You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time.
 
i just spoke to mum about it; and weve decided to get her reameasured as a horse; its annoying cos like if i got rid (which i absolutely cannot do) a child of the right age is not going to be big enough or strong enough to hold her; they may be able to sit and kick and point... but wouldnt be strong enough to ride her properly... she is a very difficult ride, and i know junior showjumpers are good, but they are no way strong enough to jump her

That's a bit of an overstatement! You are strong enough and you are only 16 and I'm assuming you've not just bought her! You and your horse are not unique despite what you might think and there are others who would be strong enough - I can think of at least 2 riders on my yard who are under 16 and very, very experienced and competant, one in particular is a BE Novice eventer. All a bit academic as you are not selling.
 
I used to do Trailblazers as a senior on my 14.2hh, qualified several times for the champs but of course, I wasnt allowed to compete at them. Ridiculous rule IMO, totally stupid! Trailblazer classes fizzled out in my area, I haven't seen them for years so I guess it put a lot of people off.
 
Does she have a lifetime height certificate? if so impossible to remeasure. if not, 149 is entirley possible isn't it? Over 148 = 149??

You don't need height certif for Trail B. They could do spot check. Will she be out? More likely top spot check BIG animals in the junior class.
Unlike BRC they DONT check passports on entry.
