It gets complicated sort of :
Once upon a time I owned a lovely mare called Rhoda who competed as Shady Lady with the Riding Club. She was a sweetheart and when she was 10 she retired with a fractured Pedal bone = lots of tears later she became a brood mare with a friend who had a lovely stallion.
Her first foal was a filly and I was allowed to name her.
I had since bought Gulliver and when she was ready to be sold on I got very mumsy and the only reason i did not buy her was money. I had a lot of sleepless nights over that.
My mare Rhoda came sound as a hack and still lives just down the road with the friend I gave her too and plods out regularly on hacks. My poor arithmetic tells me she must be 10+1+14+1 = 26 I think and her foal must be 13 ?? I lose track.
Anyway I lost touch mostly because of my angst and today I had a phone call from a lovely lady who has her as a brood mare she has a stud in Pemrokeshire and has bred a foal. she loves the mare and wanted some background. Whey Hay will she ever get background I have photos of her at hours old and of course tons of photos of my Rhoda.
When I was horse hunting last year I showed an interest in one of Rhodas other foals (as a 10yo) and at one point in the past I seriously showed an interest in her colt at 4 and even hacked him out but did not follow it up mostly because he was too big ha so here I am with a bloke at nearly 17hh.
Anyway I am very happy and going to spend the weekend scanning every bit of paper I have on Rhoda and get copies of all her foal photos to send off to the stud. In return I am to get photos of Annie with her new foal.
