Had an amazing breakthrough in my lesson today. Turns out, riding is so much easier when you remember to breath!

I think I get so focussed on what I'm doing with my position and my hands that I either start talking to myself under my breath or holding it.

Consciously stopped doing that today and what a difference it made! We had such a great rhythm. Walked away from my lesson with a huge smile on my face.

You're not the only one. I had a comment on a dressage test sheet from the judge which said " try to breathe before the final halt"

We used to make my daughter sing! When she was younger we have loads of videos of her singing her head off around an SJ course. She got quite a reputation for it (still does it occasionally!). But you can't hold your breath and sing at the same time.

I'm fine in walk and canter but in trot I seem to chant to my self... lower-leg-still-lower-leg-still-don't-drop-inside-hand-lower-leg-still...

And then I hyperventilate and go really pale 😂

Poor Milly must wonder what the hell is going on up there!
