I haven't been on here properly in the best part of a year. But on a whim I decided to come back.
As a few of you know I had a little TB mare that I was at my wits end with because vets couldn't find anything wrong with her, saddle was fine, back was apparently fine, teeth done etc, yet she still napped badly out hacking and still did rodeo dispays, and I couldn't ride her if she had been in overnight she would go mental.
Well I moved to Cumbria and I brought my little mare with me. We went for a hack and something spooked the ponies so they had a little canter before they settled again. Little mare was crippled 2 days on so I got the vet out.
Turns out the poor sod had a slipped disk in her back and had been in low grade but constant pain for years :( So for that and only bucking me off 3 times in nearly 4 years she was the most honest horse I knew. So unfortunately she was PTS at the grand old age of 7. :(
However silver lining, I went horse hunting straight away because I couldn't bear to be without another horse and I found my wonderhorse! First and only one I tried. Sharp but sensible, I fell in love! She will never fill the hole my little mare left but it certainly helped me.
Hopefully 2011 will be a better year for me and Buffy! Since I am back I just thought I would post an update. Especially after my ranting over the Little Mare that some of you may remember.
Merry Christmas all

Hi I came back less than a year ago but sounds like a super little mare considering her pain. RIP little mare.
Good luck with Buffy. You got any pics of them both?

Merry Christmas and hope all goes well x

O bless your mare. Some of them are unbelivably honest and really do try despite pain. RIP mare.

Hope you have a fantastic 2011 with your new horse. Have you any details or pictures to share with us please?

This was my little mare, Poutu. My amazing little TB. 15.2 ex racer, I bought her as a rising 4 year old off the track. If she didn't have that back problem she would of been even more special then she already was. But you can see from the way she was stood she was uncomfortable behind.

delighted that you have found a wonder horse after losing your mare. I know how that feels, I lost my best by over 12 months ago, and I just dont have the same interest anymore. I have a nearly four year old thats just riding, a yearling/nearly 2 year old and a 9 mth old filly but just dont get the same buzz. I still miss cooper so much, I feel really bad for still missing him, but i cant help it. He had pedal degenerative disease, but was like your mare, so honest, and was only lame intermittiently, when he should have been hobling lame all the time. You've gotta love horses like that, they are rare. Glad you are back, hope to hear more!!!

Sorry to hear about your boy, they really do leave a hole don't they? :(
I hope I stay this time too! It just got so cliquey and bitchey I couldn't be doing with the drama!
Have a good Christmas all :)

Thanks guys.
2011 hopefully will see me getting some points out dressaging. I am learning the controls of this new girly but we are getting there. Only had her since October! She is truly a fantastic mare :) Finally I will be able to get out competing and finally have some fun :D
