Yes, t'is right I'm back...and with some good horsey news!

I've been pretty busy recently with a new job and I am actually presently horse-less so I haven't really been around for quite a while. Anyhow I'm going to look at a horse tomorrow with a friend and I thought I'd let you all know about him.

His name is Sherman. Big handsome Shire, all 18hh of him! Now he's 10 and is already broken to ride and drive (although can you imagine the size of the cart) He'll be coming from my friend's cousin who has just moved house (from just outside Ipswich to Devon) and unfotunately is having to get rid of her horse as a compramise to the move. He will also be on permanent loan with a view to buy, however the decision on whether I wanted to buy him would be in around 2 years.

Now I'm trying not to get too excited...but I just can't wait to see him/ride him and possibly be a horse owner again!

Handsome chappie! Can't help but cringe slightly at the thought of the cost of feeding and shoeing a giant like that though

I think he's gorgeous, 18h! I'd have to stand on a step ladder to get a saddle on!

Enfys...I know it's gonna cost a small fortune I'm sure...but I'm only going to look/ride him, if I'm not happy I might not even get him.....but if I do, I'll manage to pay for it all don't worry, he'll be well looked after! I used to ride an 18hander when I was 13 (I'm 18 now) and I was about 5ft! I'm not 5ft4 so I'm sure I'm probably still going to need a ladder to get on! I used to be able to mount the otehr 18hander from the floor, but he wasn't quite as wide!

T...thanks for the luck!

He does look like asherman tank. very impressive. It will cost you at leat £100 a set to get him shod...

Good Luck I hope you get on with him

Cheers DD....I used to have a TB that I had to get shod every 3 weeks at nearly £60 a set....from what I've been told Sherman goes 7-8 weeks on his shoes so it's not going to be much difference in price!

he is lovely, very similar to my boy, you will never have any dosh left feeding him and shoes, i pay 120 a set

Oh no! I didn't mean it like that at all

Please don't think that I mentioned cost as in it would cost you a fortune, and that you might find it a struggle. It was just the first thing that popped into my head "God! His feet must be gigantic ! Shoes would cost a bomb!" a fleeting image of him standing on my foot also whizzed through as well, ouchhhhhhh.

I'll just go off, pull my boots out of my mouth and boil my head.

Enfys....I didn't think you said it like that at all *hugs* don't be so silly! I just thought I'd clarify that with everyone....coz I knew I'd get some comments after I gave up Charlie because I couldn't afford to keep a horse (and that was only about 2 months ago)...but my hourse have SHOT up at work and all that so yeah!

You are right though, it IS going to cost me a fortune! I have a broken toe from my old horse who was a TB treading on my toe..so what the HELL would he do....OWWW!

Don't pull your boots out of your mouth, and certainly don't boil your head! I didn't think you were being mean!

Thankyou. No problem.
I don't remember your other posts about giving up your previus horse (and I am sorry to hear that) I had a few months break from here before Christmas and have missed loads of goings on.

Btw, I think Sherman is a fabulous name, I used to ride a spotty horse called Scammell after the truck because he was so huge. I've got a Mini Cooper

I don't actually remember coming on here and posting about it now I think of it....it did cause a bit of a problem with the lady I was loaning him from so yeah! Anyway I had to give him up because I just didn't have the money (this was before Christmas) and I couldn't handle looking after him as WELL as her horse..it was getting a bit much! I haven't been around much either so I have no idea what's going on around here!

Sherman is a fantabby name huh? *giggles at Scammell*......you've got a Mini Cooper? Call me slow, but I don't get that? Little ponio?

He is gorgeous! And I thought my two heavies were on the large size. What size rug does he take - or do you have to buy a large tent/small marquee??????????

Enfys....I get you now!

Jaylen...I think he's something like 7ft3 or 7ft6...does that sound about right? I'm going to see him at 10 today so I'll be leaving at 9...YAY! I'll post as soon as I get back!
