For everyone's amusement:

Went on a hack this morning. Lovely sunny morning, gentle breeze. Plodding along on my Welsh D X to go to the heath. Have to ride through a park carpark to get onto heath. (No cars, or any other hazards in carpark) As we have had a lot of rain the last few days there was a long, wide puddle in the middle. Point horsey towards puddle so he can have a splash. Water is crystal clear and there is a covered drain in the middle so I make note not to go near it. Welshie walks straight in, has lots of fun splashing, putting his face in it :p and then pulling funny faces, curling top lip etc. Splash through onto the heath for a trot and small canter and then head home back the way we came.

Approach puddle again and Welshie again walks straight in splashing. Que old lady walking towards me telling me i'm cruel!! why?!" I ask. She said riding the horse in the puddle, didn't I know there is a drain there?! I replied of course, I saw it straight away and luckily I can stear pony, so he doesn't step on it. (Bearing in mind puddle is HUGE, not deep just very long and wide And we went no where near the offensive drain).

She then went on to say that cars and motorbikes come in car park and spill all their oil and petrol. I look around car park and there isn't a spot of oil. I said well with such a large volume of water and maybe a few specs of oil, I'm sure he will be fine. She shouted saying it's cruel  I asked her why it was cruel for pony to have a bit of fun in water. She told me I was a mare (I retored that my horse was a gelding :p) And finished saying she is going to report me - I was like, who to exactly?! She said the Police!! At this point I had to laugh and said I'm sure they will be very interested a horse walking through the puddle!

So this to warn everyone on HHO - it is now an offence to walk a horse through a puddle! Bored, busy bodies WILL REPORT YOU!! :p :p :D :D

HA o dear some people really do have nothing better to do with their lives. She would hate to see some of the 'discussions' I have had about going through puddles if its cruel to just walk through one

How bizarre! I once got told I wasn't feeding my horse enough, the one sharing the 5 acres of grass with his Mum, some people...

You cruel woman trying to drown your horse ;-) You were very polite I would have told her to f... off and mind her own business.

Haha! Of course! If I had let her carry on no doubt that would be her next accusation!

I was quite impressed with my politeness too actually! I got really scarcastic in the end. Silly woman!
