Some of you may know that Diva has not been quite right for some time (it started in November). She has not been very happy in herself and has become quite difficult under saddle, which as many of you will know, is totally out of character.

I have done all the right things such as physio, teeth, saddle, correct work and training, massage, stretching, supplements, etc but today when my husband was having a lesson with his trainer when they stopped the lesson and decided that she is not right.

I have just telephoned the vet to arrange an assesment to see if we can identify the cause of her discomfort.

I have been worrying about if for weeks to the extent that I have tried every alternative method I can to make her happier but today shows me that she is not right.

She was taking half-steps and mini rears and is violently reacting to canter transitions and is struggling to maintain the canter especially to the left.

She looks sad which sounds stupid but she is clearly not a happy bunny.

I am gutted that my lovely mare is not right and am aprehensive about what they may find. At the end of the day I want her happy and comfortable.

I will let you all know how it goes at the vets.
I nearly posted a couple of times to ask people's thoughts but kept delaying it in case it was just the winter blues.

Fingers crossed for you that it is something very simple.

Until then, have some hugs to amke you feel better - until you know from the vets you can't do anything, which must be horrid.

Oh no! Poor Diva. Fingers crossed it will not be something awful and she can be back to normal quickly. Keep us posted as to how she is doing.

Hugs to Diva.

Oh honey... I am so sorry to read this post!

Do not start panicking just yet though, you need to stay positive for your gorgeous girlie

Have you arranged a date for her to go into the vets to be assessed?

I hope everything is ok, and it is something minor which is extremely treatable!

Oh no, that is very sad

I hope your vet suggests a body scan, that was the only way in the end that we could diagnose what was wrong with Boo and it has given us peace of mind in the end too, as we know that the rest of his body is absolutely fine.

My fingers are x'd that you find out soon what is wrong.xx

I have not had the pleasure of meeting Diva but have read much about her.
I hope that whatever it is it can be sorted and Diva can return to herself.
Sending her healing vibes

Oh no poor Diva, beat up the vet until they can give you an answer (well not literally but you know what I mean). Fingers crossed you find something fairly simple. Please keep us posted and big hugs from me.

Really hope the vets find nothing, I had this worry when Spider just wasnt right, but it is nice to get to the bottom of things if there is a problem.

You are doing the right thing by getting the vet out

Good luck

Thank you everyone I really appreciate it.

I have really been trying to stay positive and wait until the vets have seen her but I as my username suggests I am a big worrier!

She is going to the vets on Sunday and will be staying there while they investigate.

Oh no, what a shame

Hope its something easily recognisable and very treatable. Maybe her ovaries are playing up?
I actually dreamt about your horse last night- weird!!

Good luck, hope the vets find something that's easy to fix. If you're still none the wiser after the vet's examination you could try giving her bute to see if she improves. If she does then you know it's definitely pain related and it's just a matter of finding where the problem is. Obviously you don't want to be keeping her on bute for ages but it might just help with a diagnosis. Good luck.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and Diva I know how worrying it is when these things happen.

As my friend says "hope they find somethin and nothin" translates to they find something minor and easily fixable that makes all the difference.

Basically we think it is one of two things.

It is either hormone related/ovary pain or else it is pain located either in her back or hindquarters.

Either way it has got to the point where we can't ride her so it needs to be identified and treated.

Our vets are Bell Equine and so they are going to do all the usual things in the morning and give her a good prod and poke and then if they still can't find anything they then want to see her ridden so Mark is going to ride her for them so they can see what she is doing under saddle.

((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))

Will keep fingers crossed for you and Diva. Hopefully you will be able to get a diagnosis so you can both look forward to a speedy recovery.

who from bell are seeing her ??? xx

OMG Worried - seriously you are absolutely describing P to a tee. I too have had all normal checks but she just isn't *right*. Saw my/her chiro again today and said there was no improvement, she asked me to describe her whole being (she cannot maintain canter, she won't stretch over her back, she is quiet in the stable, but she keeps tucking up a little and she is just NOT RIGHT) - she said her mare had been the same and it was a virus. She put her on Blood Tonic and after 7 days saw a dramatic change. I am going to try it as I am at my wits end - even tho she is on Blood Salts anyway, apparently this makes them almost anaemic, resistant and just NOT RIGHT.

Hope you find a cure, but I am going to try this and see if it gets me anywhere.

(((hugs)))

Weezy - what do you mean by blood tonics? is it somthing you can buy at a shop?
I reckon Star had/still has a virus but is getting better slowly. At one point i couldnt even get her moving on the lunge....

Called something like Blood Boost - green bottle (or it is green - don't know as not going to get it until tomorrow) - if you cannot get hold of that then Red Cell is almost as good apparently - deffo worth a try if you ask me.
