Recently my boy has started to nip, nugde (more like shove) and can be a pain bringing in from the field, with the field my theory is that this only happens when the mare in the paddock next to him has already been brought in, he wants to get in too and trys to lead me to his stable rather i lead him, even though there are plenty of other horses surrounding him. I dont know what to do with the nudging or nipping, but my dad who isnt very horsey came down to see him the other day, put his hand out to stroke him and ended up being nipped. as for the bringing in from field, friend from the yard suggested putting the leadrope around his nose and back through the head collar to give me that bit more control, this helps but he still puts up a fight. Do you guys have any ideas in ways to stop this? at first it wasnt bad, quite sweet, now im finding it rude.
