I'm glad I've never met this out hacking

That would be me in the ditch, and horse on his way home.......

I recently met some Llamas out Hacking, the horses were not impressed at all! I think the would find a llama on wheels even more terrifying!!

I still have fond memories from 16 years ago of my anglo-arab walking around Cheltenham showground at his first comp on his back legs & bucking for Britain or doing interesting high school movements every time he saw the private driving competitors going past him. The Fox is now 22 and is fine about driving ponies having lived with a couple for a few years but I'm not convinced that even he would be happy about a Llama!

I think I'd turn the horses round before they saw it to be honest. I was in Cornwall in August and we had Lanky on 2 week trial as the people who own the yard (our friends) where we go, were selling him. George saw a pony and trap and just snorted but Lanky started bronking and spinning, so George decided to copy. It was a terrifying 10 minutes, because the stupid person with the pony and trap, rather than waiting for us to turn the corner out of his way, decided to virtually chase us up the road as he could not control the young pony. The horses were petrified as this thing was right on their backsides. I was so cross. A bit of courtesy goes a long way. Took ages to calm the horses down and every little noise sent them mad.

That llama does look pretty scary, though!

Corroy doesn't mind horses being driven, but I think that would push it too far. She saw a Llama years ago and I think she thought it was a foal until it turned round and faced her and she legged it.

My horse is fascinated by carriages and driven horses - we met one out hacking once and she refused to go in front or behind, she planted herself next to the horse in harness and matched it pace for pace! Very embarrassing for me but it did make me wonder if she'd ever been driven, she would have been very young though if so.

Llamas in fields are bad enough, if we ever saw that I'd be a splat on the road before I knew what was happening.

We have llamas, alpacas and pot bellied pigs in a field up through the meadows from where mine are kept. My boy hates them and won't even go near them. He snorts, spins round and I'm back where I came form before I know it.

We have to pass LLamas on our way to most of our hacking routes, 1st time my mare saw them she really didn't know what to do! To make it worse the Llamas use to be turned out with horses so like them!
Wouldn't fancy my chances if there wasn't a fence inbetween us!
I think it's the neck movement them freaks them out!
