I'm going to cry

Had a call from the yard this morning. Corroy's fetlock is reallty swollen this morning on the leg with suspensory injury. Yesterday she was sensitive in that area like she was after her fall on Sunday. I looked at her on the lunge and she looked OK. Maybe a bit sore on the bad leg, but nothing major. I'm in a total panic now as I think she's done more damage to that leg

Doesn't help that her legs fill from standing in either.

I had major panicitis last week when my new dressage mare came out the stable with knees the size of footballs and didn't want them touched

Que a frantic phone call to the vet, vet looking rather surprised because she was stumped as mare 100% sound on lunge and on straight, and left with some bute and anti b's just in case

Friday, Sat and Sun there was small amount of improvement but heat still in knees, swelling moving down outside of leg only and still a lot of fluid around he knees!

Saturday afternoon I found a mud rash resembling rash under both armpits which was hot, swollen and sore so I Sporal D'd the area, thoroughly dried and left her alone for another day. Rash had improved drastically by Monday morning, as had swelling in knees and legs. Yesterday, legs completely back to normal.

It is one of those things I will never ever know what caused it. Did she have a bump on her knees in the wagon on the way home, did she bang her knees getting cast in the stable, how much did the rash affect the swelling??? We will never ever know

What I am trying to say is, although panicitis has set in, I think her trip at the weekend had left her a bit bumped and bruised (my knee still swollen where I fell on ice on Thursday... felt rather foolish as a few people around!) and like I said in previous post, she would have to stretch the ligament more lying down and rolling than she would have falling on her knees

Plus, she had been walking on the leg so everything was a bit looser than when she would get down in her stable after being stood in

Has she been turned out in the mud/wet as well? One of mine can get quite swollen legs when there's a little tiny cut and mud/wet gets in it as well?

Is she did it since she came down on her knees on Sunday then no, although it was muddy where she did it. If it was there before, then yes. Sorry to sound vague.

So I went to the yard tonight and Madam's fetlock wasn't too bad. Her other knee is a bit big and puffy, but nothing too serious. Anyway, she has a scabby cut on the back of her fetlock and is a but touchy about it, so I am hoping that was causing the filled fetlock. I rode her around the school and she's sound. So I think I am just getting a bit paranoid about it all. Sorry.
