😬

I'm off to a livery yard for a few hours. Its secure as the owner has dogs but this afternoon I'm there alone. I've been thinking about taking him for ages but there's always something that puts me off. Today, other than having to turn two out Its all safe and once those two are out the way there will be no one and no horses around.
He can sit in the van while i literally run them out together to the field as its across a little road, very quiet but if someone walks past with a dog and he shoots off to say Hi, leaving me with two horses I may come unstuck!
He's happy/used to being on a lunge line on my yard if the farm is busy so if he's a pita I'll do that.
Cecil's been several times but in reality he's never very happy about it so i just don't bother! He rather's stay home on the sofa and isn't keen on horses or new places.

This will be a true test as to how well behaved (or otherwise!!) he can be

Wish us luck!

Oh my god! I’m a bit mindblown at him actually!
Absolute perfection.
I swear the old lab is a really bad influence on him! I’m not joking!
He wandered out into the field once alone but I’d just turned a horse out that way and then gone into a stable and shut the door to sort another one and I think he lost sight of me so went to look that way, Came back as soon as I called. Trotted alongside me back and fore doing hay nets and whatever.
Couldn’t for the life of him work out how I got
Into the muck trailer 😂 there’s a ramp which even guided he didn’t understand but tbh I don’t want him up there anyway so that’s fine!

Back home with a quick coffee and a Cecil on my lap 😂 perhaps it’s time for Cec to become my official lap dog.

Separating him, I see the lab I’ve always wanted. He’s a far calmer personality than Spud and I really like that.

Very pleased with him!

That’s great news. Mine are all more chilled and yet attentive when they are alone. I do try to give them all solo time but it’s not that easy sometimes.

He does come with me poo picking the field alone and we play and do stuff between poo’s! but he’s never been anywhere alone since stopping training.
I need to make more time to do that.
I’m more confident after today that even if there are liveries around or whatever that he should be ok, they are all lovely and dog friendly. I’d worried he would get in the way or howl (he’s a full on wolf howler!) when I needed to put him in the van alone- again something he’s never done before.

He’s also imo really nice looking now! I do want a bit more weight on him, he’s gone a little bit thinner than I’d like, I prefer that than too fat but I had to do a food switch unintentionally a month ago and he dropped off a little.

** Nb- he doesn’t travel like this, I’d taken the van into the field with water and he sat on the seat while I filled the buckets!

There is nothing better than when they behave is there 😊 Bert is a gorgeous looking boy, I’m so pleased he was happy today!

I’m still astonished when I can take the manic terrier pair up to the horse I share, I can’t believe I can poo pick while they potter around (and eat horse muck 🙄) - it’s amazing 😊

My terrier won’t! He follows me round with one paw in the air and a miserable little face! He was supposed to be a “yard dog” 😂
He very much understands the word poo picking and when I say it he gets into bed and shuts his eyes 😂
