Bit of background first, I ride a Arab welsh X who is also a rig. He is owned by B's owner so I have rode him for her and me and Foxy haven't always seen eye to eye. He was constantly naught for me bucking, spinning head between knees, head tossing. After all the checks, I just had to work through it. His owner said that he can't lunge as he pulls you all over the place. Well after he broke my ribs I spent six weeks painstakingly teaching him to lunge by my self I had no help what so ever. Now there is a horse who will happily lunge in walk on both reins and do a few strides of trot.

Also another poster on here (can't remember who sorry) Posted to someone else about how she makes the horse stand back when they are getting feed and hay and they are only allowed it when they say. I started doing this with foxy and after 3 weeks ( which is faster than I thought.) He will now stand when I bring in feed, take steps back away from it when asked, and let me remove the feed whereas before he would barge and try to kick if you went near his feed and the icing on the cake, yeasterday he said please for the first time :D

Pointless really but over the moon

That's really great, sounds like you're doing a geat job :) I've been working being able to have the stable door open whilst I brush, tack up etc. and pony not leaving. We have been working on back to get him back from the door. This week he has been really good at standing with his head just poking out of the door whilst being brushed. Today he had finished work, been untacked and had no hay. I was taking down his empty haynet and he stood in the doorway with the door wide open watching the horse opposite eating his hay and didn't move, even though I was near his bum. Then I shouted his name and said "back!" a couple of times and he took a couple of steps back and turned round! It was an awesome moment considering he is a chubby native and driven by his stomach and he didn't just leave and lunge for his neighbours dinner! It;s a good feeling! :D
