I'm i n a flood of tears, I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!! (Rant)

well I'll retype the message she sent me after I contacted her:

"I've not sold him yet, I just thought I would let you know the situation and whether you want to put in a offer on him or not"

Think you lot are right, she's trying to see if I'll go higher, just messaged her telling her I wont go any higher than the advertized price and that I wouldnt get into a bidding war.

Your dong the right thing, stick to the price that the horse was advertised at, (sorry I have not seen your previous posts) but yes I do understand how upsetting that must be, its happened to me before twice when my parents put deposits down, because someone else offered more money, then when it fell through, they where back on the blower trying to sell us the horses....at less than advertised, dam cheek of people, its when greed gets the better of them, what goes around comes around trust me.

There are plenty more lovely horses out there, don't give up, no matter how upset you are now, honestly things will get better and you end up with your dream horse, good things come to those who wait, now chin up and tell them thats what your offering, take it or leave it

Think you are spot on there amykins, that text sounds like she is trying to get more money out of you. Call her bluff and tell her that although you liked the horse and would have given him a first class home you simply cannot pay a penny more so she needs to decide what is best for her horse. She can either accept your original agreement or she can go with this new buyer and you will find something else.

I think her *new buyer* will *back out* fairly soon.

Sounds like you've had a very lucky escape. She is either trying to get you to up the price, or to take delivery of the horse straight away and skip the vetting. Either way, clearly a dishonest person and given all the risks already inherent in horse buying, the last thing you want is to buy one off someone who you KNOW isnt honest.

If you really do want the horse, tell her you are willing to take it if her new sale falls through for a 10% discount on the original price you offered to represent the inconvenience she has caused you. That way if she is bluffing, she looses out. Also, make sure you have this conversation in writing as if she is particularly dim and tries to argue that you have already agreed to buy at full price, you then have evidence of this and can enforce your right to the horse (as the first contract holder) or will be entitled to her paying you the excess any other purchaser pays over the price you originally contracted if they get delivery of the horse before you do.

Unfort i would doubt if this went to court that they would take any notice of a verbal yes you can have him. It is the same in housing buying and selling. It is tough but thats life unfort, we found this the hard way and have lost horses and houses down to the day you exchange contract and can get no money back and nothing you can do. People will always unless very well natured sell to the highest bidder until they have money in thier hand. Dont count your chickens till thy hatch i think is the saying . really tough but sorry.

What a cheeky cow!!
I hope it back fires on her, which it usually does!

Sorry that she has messed you around, I would never do that to anyone

What you looking for? - bet we can find you a better one by the end of the week. Remember - everything happens for a reason and the reason may become apparant in a few months time

I had this with a stallion I went to see. Agreed to buy him and went home to get cash and lorry. She text me to say that she had had an offer from the people who saw him before us at the asking price, the same as us. I offered £100 more on the understanding that she would cover my costs if I arrived and she renegad on the deal. She agreed by text.

If this horse really is all you think he is then make her a 'final offer' of £100 more and say that is your only offer and it is only valid for tonight only. Bet she takes it. Then pick up Barney and never ever contact her again!!!

I'm with the others on this. I have been a salesman most of my working life and I have NEVER had a customer offer to pay MORE than the price quoted.

I call BS.

Ditto. Someone did this to me recently. We agreed on a price, then the following day she sent me a text (couldn't even call!) and said she thought he was worth more and funnily enough, three more people had called about him (nobody had within 6 weeks prior to that).

I replied and said okay, that's a shame as he'd have had a great home here, but thanks anyway. 5 minutes later, the sale was back on. When I picked him up, she tried to give me his fieldmate for free! Slight attitude change... I don't understand people sometimes... particularly horsey ones

I think she's trying to pull a fast one, trying to grab more money rather than ensuring the best home for neddy.

TBH I'd walk away, can't stand people like that.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ditto. I would be too proud, even if it was the best horse since sliced bread, I would never let anyone manipulate me into a situation like this.

If they dare insult you by approaching you again, saying the other (imaginary) buyer has pulled out, I would tell them to shove it where the sun doesn't shine!!!

Be strong. DON'T let them walk all over you! There's plenty of decent neddies out there.

Thanks guys for all your advice and vibes. After reading some of the messages before going out, I got over it sort of (got abit mad instead). OH says if she rings back, that I'm to say I've been to view another horse that I'm interested in and if this "buyer" has pulled out that I should ask for a discount because of messing around!

Amykins, whats the latest? I can't believe how much this woman has messed you around, and since day 1 aswell. GRrrr this really makes me angry, what a rollercoaster you have been on for the past week. Its really not fair.
