I'm jealous!!!! Neighbours just got...

[ QUOTE ]
I read your second post and realised you weren't being a spoilt brat about the wedding. I know from experience how parents can suddenly become quite demanding about weddings - we orginally wanted ours in this little country house in Scotland but my mother was having none of that, even threatened not to come if it was over the border! She was worried my mother in law would be more on hand to take over and she'd not get a look in. However when we agreed to have it in England she was happy for it to be where we wanted it (well so long as it wasn't too far away from her relatives as they'd complain about getting taxi fares!). I saw some gorgeous lorries at Bramham today and added them to my long wish list

I was at Bramham all weekend....not competing, but watching and spending and ogling the boxes.........in fact, if I'd have bought less crap food from the burger van at extortionate prices I could possibly have gone halves with you!

"It isn't the cowshed that the horse comes out of, but the horse that comes out of the cowshed"

What a good saying, I must remember that one.

My friend once had her pony transported over from Ireland, they managed to hitch a lift with a professional transporter. This HUGE lorry pulled up by the yard, it was like a spaceship, hundreds of lights twinkling, loads of chrome bling. The driver went and opened the ramp and about 10 very aristocratic horse heads peered out, they were all priceless show jumpers. He then led out the smallest scruffiest hairiest little pony mare you've ever seen. She minced down the ramp, and i swear I've never seen a pony look so smug. She thought she was SO special!!

I got married very quickly, and quietly, because we'd both had the family thing before and I didn't want any of the fuss and bother.

I think it is a fine act of juggling what you want and what family wants, sure, parents want you to have a lovely day, but I think sometimes the fact that it is YOUR day is lost sight of, also, not saying this is so in your case of course, there often seems to be a bit of one-upmanship happening.

To keep the peace, let them have THEIR day, then go off and have a Blessing or whatever somewhere you REALLY want perhaps. (Or spend the money on that really nice trailer!)

Whatever happens, this whole thing is about you and your OH and the beginning of a new chapter of your life, it is only one day, Good Luck and be Happy.

Tasel, I think that most people will see that your post is a light hearted tongue in cheek post.
Some people out there are that wrapped up in their own lives that they take everything seriously.
One or two of you out there ought to try smiling once in a while, you never know, you might get to like it?
