I have been asked to work with an aggressive dog, my number was given out by someone who had no right to do so:mad: I explained Im not well at the moment and need time to basically look after myself, I could not give any other name out as I cannot recommend just anyone, so I advised to person to ask their vet, "we have tried lots of trainers and spent lots of money" if it money we are offered any amount.
"Money wont change my health" I asked for a little time, maybe a month then I could work with the dog.

The message left on my phne, "we are putting the dog to sleep"
Is this blackmail or what?

Looks like I dont have time to be unwell then:(

I just looked back at my posts and my mixed up grammer is shocking:o

Im really angry, I feel like giving them a mouthful, but not sure it will help me or the dog, Im not the only person in the world who can help with this, or even in a 10 mile radius surely, I have taken a huge step back, even from the rescues to take a break and take medication, I do not advetise and the only people who give my number is the vets and thye always ask me fisrt, so I think it shocking on all counts, my number been given out and being blackmailed like this.

Ditto CC, take it and don't give it back, do you have any fosterers that would keep it for you until you can work with it? Or local kennels you deal with? Or your mum?
Hope you feel better soon hun x

It has some real issues, it the same breed as a dog I helped no so long back, im sure that why they think I can help, I dont think it could go into a home and to be honest not many people will have this breed in thier house with their animals and I dont blame them, my mam is also dropping to bits:D and need a big operation on her back, so we have rehomed alot of dogs and purposely not taken any more in recently.

I can see it needs help, but im damn sure thye can wait.
Maybe I should ring back and say well I have a bloody **** ***** but my medical history is none of her bloody business, but it would make her feel like a t!wat.

It will get helped non the less.

well you answered your own q. if this particular dog has serious issues and is of a breed that most people wouldnt have then a pts option seems like a realistic one. sorry. it could potentially yo yo between homes which is not a good result. and again you are not the only dog trainer/rehomer around so someone else could try to do the job! but if of suspect temp (being lack of training inbreeding just a bad grumpy one) and not a popular bred thern pts could be the best way.

Yep, I see your point and to be fair it's the reason I would like to see less breeds that are unmaneagable in this world, but saying that the dog I worked with came from a worse situation than this dog and had alot more issues and I got him a fab home, and he is very young like the other dog, they did sound desperate, but obs got a bit frustrated and felt the need to make me feel bad, I will pay them a visit and they will get an honest opinion as to weather it's workable and indeed if they are capable to carry on where training is left off.
I jsut wish people could be a little more patient and realise other have a life too.

if its your health then you have to put it first - if not then you may help this dog but at the expense of yourself and then how many other dogs will miss out?

It is such a horrid situation but the line has to be drawn somewhere :o I would like to imagine these people are saying it for effect not for real....

I was also hoping they where esaying it out of frustration and thats why in not getting as angery as I usually would, but it made me feel ****.
Im not going to work with it, cos my health has to come first and I will not beable to function some days till my meds kick in, so im going to have a chat and get the gist of the problems and meet the dog and them and take it from there, which will mean they will have to be patient and do a little work with him if they are capable of that and then I can help a little later.

People make me laugh!
Obviously if you've helped a dog of said breed before now, you're going to bend over backwards to help this one too even when you're unwell. They should never have got the dog if they aren't willing to give a little time and patience for training :(
I feel sorry for the dog, even more so for the uneducated, impatient and clueless owners.
Good on you for trying to compromise and help the dog's position in life though, we need more people like you in the dog world!

I did feel inclined to help, because I could could think of was the dog I had worked with and how fab he turned out and the life he has now, when no one would help him, I think maybe the trainers they have worked with have been more than helpful, but they know I have alot of dogs and they knwo I trained the other dog with my dogs and the trainers so far have offered one and one and they dont feel it's helping his aggression, but unless you give it a good chance u never know, so I feel they are being inpatient and want a miracle, the other dog lived with me, and took me a good 6 months to work with him and find a responsible home for him.

but it made me feel ****.

People are so **** sometimes - no animal would ever make you feel like that. If they don't have the patience to wait then the truth is they would probably be better off without a dog anyway :(

Jeez. I have no words, people are awful sometimes.

And I'm sorry, I didn't realise you were ill, I really hope it's something that is sorted soon for you.

Take care and try not to feel bad - it isn't your fault!

Thankyou, I will be ok, it somethig I have had for a while but had gradually worsened, new meds will help, but will make me fell ill for a while.

PUT YOUR HEALTH FIRST WOMAN.

Sorry your ill and this is going to sound really bad but people cannot do this to you, they have no doubt mad the dog the way it is let them sort it out or cope for a while longer until your back on your feet you have enough going on and if they say they are PTS let it happen. Yes you could help the dog and make it alot nicer however your not up to it. you know yourself you cannot help every dog. Are they wanting to keep the dog or rehome it?
