He could have been but then farriers also tend not to beat about the bush - they tend to tell you straight! Post a pic and open yourself up to judgement, finger pointing and perhaps a short sharp telling off
if my farrier thought my horse was fat, he would say something along the lines of 'that ****ing horse looks ****** ****ing immense put the ****er on a ****ing diet right ****ing now'.
He would only say she looked well if he thought she looked well

Well when my farrier and his apprentice told me that my Welsh Section D looked "very well" they were telling me that they thought he was fat - but they are sarcastic b*ggers so I ignored them, the horse looked in fab condition and wasnt fat, they were trying to get a rise out of me
I have a friend who says 'he looks well' what he is really saying 'he's a bit porky'
Another says 'He's angular' what he is saying ' he's thin'
So depending on what your farrier is like he could be like my friend trying to be diplomatic and not say he's a fatty outright !
Let's see a photo when your daughter can sort it out and hopefully we will be able to help you decide what he truly meant !
Don't think you've anything to worry about, farriers always tend to be straight to the point! Mine is and defiantly doesn't hold back if my mare puts on a few pounds here and there!! I can always count on my farrier for his true opinion
That depends on the tone used and your relationships with your farrier. Now, what "Mavis_Cluttergusset" wrote makes me think of the movie "planes, trains and automobiles"(it is a comedy) where John Candy gets really p....off at the airport. I suggest you should watch it to know how to answer to your farrier...lol
