As I've said previously on here, I compete BD with my horse, however he wasn't made for the job (bless him) and has various issues. He is 14 now and I'm starting to wonder how much longer I can ask for what I do from him as age is making his 'issues' worse.
He isn't an easy horse, cold backed and when stabled during the winter does like to have a good bronking session here and there (whether it be in his stable, on the lunge or when you are on). He needs a lot of work to keep him calm, but i know him and life is a little less hair raising than it used to be!
I have been offered the chance to loan a horse that is much more suited to the discipline I enjoy and has potential to go further which is also something that I would like to do. At the moment I can't afford to buy anything in it's league and the lady has said that if everything worked out and I wanted to buy him in a year or two then I could. However I just don't have the time to keep two in full time work.
So now I'm thinking that maybe I should part loan my boy to free up some time for me to take on this other one. I do have a girl in mind - she is the groom at my yard - and I certainly think she is capable of riding him it's just that she used to loan a horse and was a little hit and miss in the end when it came to the riding. I'm just worried that if she does the same again i'm going to be stuck with two that I don't have time for. Osc isn't the sort of horse you can just leave in his stable and expect to be perfectly behaved if you only choose to ride three times a week.
I know this is long but I'd really appreciate anyone's input on the situation. I feel like if I pass up the opportunity to take this other horse on I'm going to be missing out however Osc has got to be my priority.
