Hi guys

As you may know i have recently opened my livery yard and was hoping to only offer full and part but there seems to be a great demand for diy assisted , so i am now going down this route
im going to offer it £30 a wk for stable and grazing
thats loddon boxes, floodlit school, individual tack lockers ,160 acers hacking
and they can buy there hay and straw from me and il offer turn out and bring in and hay up and feed at extra

so guys ..what should i charge a day , week , month for turn out bring in and feed water
my friend charges £2 a day
im in Suffolk
thanks
I'm offering part livery 50 a week thats all hay feed straw turn out and bring in
also any ideas what you like and dislike on d.i.y

I think if they are already in their stable, feeding should be virtually nothing if the feed is already made outside their stable, but maybe feeding in the field £1.50.

That is what I consider to be reasonable.

we were charged £1 each trip plus 50p to feed, muck out was £5 including either bring in or turn out... I am now somewhere where we all help each other so no charges. I think flexi DIY is great- i.e you can have muck out etc one week and not the next(although people keep changing what they want each week is probably a YO's worst nightmare!)

Turn out with rug change maybe 50p - £1 a day?

Also, have a think about offering a "full" livery per day service for DIYs where you muck out/give feed, hay & water/TO/bring in and change rugs for about £5 a day for when they're on holiday or can't make it through sickness.

This might help.

I'm on assisted DIY - it costs £50 per week and includes

Stable and grazing
Shavings
Hay
Outdoor fllodlit school
Turn out and bring in
If bad weather they will skip out and put hay net in in the morning if they have to stay in.

They are flexible and if I cannot make it for any reason (rare!) then they will sort him out and not charge any extra. however, I do help them out sometimes too by skipping their 2 out at weekends.

Depend on how easy or complicated you want to make it.

£2 to bring in or turn out plus feeding and rugs sounds fine to me.
If you want to try and encourage a routine from your DIY's then offering a weekly charge of say £10 for one side of the day might be an idea?

our yard charges as follows

feed =50p

turn out change rugs =£1.50
same for bring in

catch for farrier hold pay farrier(thier money not yo lol) , make him coffee lol turn horse back out = £5.00

mucking out , fill haynet put bed down etc £4.00

or feed turn out muck out bring in haynet change rugs pick out feet wash legs feed again etc £7 per day ,

A yard I used to be in charged £50 a week for assisted DIY. They would bring in/turn out/change rugs/give a prepared feed. The price included ad lib hay and straw, shavings were extra.

Another I was on charged £45 per week for the same service, but that included ad lib haylage (although they did make it themselves) but no bedding.

The first yard used to muck out for me when I was away as well (not very often) foc, which was very decent of them!

The second yard would charge £5 a day for doing them while I was away.

ok i think im getting the idea
but when do you all get charged for the services do you pay with your rent for stable or do you get a seperate bill
as id have to write it all down ...daily turn out x feed ? brought in z
do you get me ?

I run a DIY assisted yard in Devon and charge £25 per week that includes stable, grazing and unlimited use of superb arena (floodlit) then £1 for putting in breakfasts (I get up an hour earlier to do this so thats why I feel I can charge £1) £1.50 turn out or bring in with rug change, £3.50 muck out using their own supplies, £5 lungeing. Hope this helps

I am on part livery = stable, hay/haylage and free straw bedding, muck out, feed and turn out in morning.

£2 extra for bringing in at night, as long as you fill a haynet ready for when the horse is brought in, otherwise you are charged for a day's full livery (on top of the part livery charge) = £3 a day.

Edited: Forgot to say we have a 60m x 28m floodlit menage, my stable is about 14' x 16' and we hack straight onto a bridleway!
