Set off to Vicarage Farm on sat for the 1m Am 2nd round.
First class i went in was the 1m Am first round for a warm up. Bearing in mind he hasn't been anywhere for over 2 weeks and he was fat and very hairy. So he was lazy and didn't have much umph. I ended up having 1 stop and 1 down in the jump off.
Onto the 1m second round. I was 11th to go out of about 65 (which wasn't too bad, i was expecting about 100). I changed his bit back over to see if that would make a difference and it did. He was back to being bouncy and forward. So went in and he jumped fab for a clear.
After waiting hours for everyone to jump, about 25 got through to the jump off, and i was 5th to go. I was over in the practice ring, jumped a couple and then came to a spread, he jumped it fine then landed, took a few strides, slipped or tripped and ended up on his nose and knees and me on my backside on the floor. Que me asking anyone in sight for a leg up as they were calling me into the ring, managed one more fence then in for the jump off.
So wasn't very confident now as my horse gets frightened at anything so thought he might now just chuck in the towel, but also knew that to get anywhere i had to stick my foot down. So over 1 and 2, missed the cut inside to 3 a double (but a few had already done this and had it down so maybe a good thing) opened him up for 4 a spread with planks then landed with a tight almost 360 deg turn right which i just managed over 5 then cut inside to 6 with only 2 strides off the corner and still jumped on an angle. loads and loads of polos and pats from me.
It was agony waiting for the other 20 to go. I went into 2nd place after my round with 43 odd secs. Finally they announced the places and i ended up 7th
the winner had 37 secs but i couldn't have gone any faster it was silly.
So now i've quailfied i've just got to find the money to go now
. A couple of pics of me with rossette and hopefully the pro jumping ones will be up soon.
