Took Patches to the vets last week and vet commented on how nice she looks clipped, but would look better with her legs off. I said I'd love to take legs off, but my Avalon's won't go through her legs as they're not powerful enough.

Vet is coming to sedate her to treat her hocks in a few days and suggested I borrowed or hired some "gutsy" clippers and took her legs off whilst sedated. His theory being, once off it might be easier for my Avalon's to keep on top of.

On the way home, I said how I could kick myself for selling my mains clippers when I'd realised it was the wire that Patches is phobic of. Wish I'd kept them for clipping Tweenie and Dinker at the least....Oliver if he accepted them. That way I could've clipped all of mine on the same day, without having to re-charge clippers. Would also be quicker as the Avalon's cut great but are slow going compared to some.

Sooo.......

My darling hubby has brought me some Premier 3000c clippers complete with two sets of medium blades and a set of coarse blades for Patches legs!

How fab is he? I didn't even beg.

what a lovely husband - but if he is anything like mine it wont be for the love of you - it will be because he wont be able to stand the 'going on' about it x

Actually, I'm thinking it's more to do with the clippers being a damn sight cheaper than the manège I keep harping on about needing!

Ooooo goodie, an endorsement for them! Having done some research, they seem to be powerful, yet relatively quiet (decibel wise) for that type of clipper. Pretty much a Hauptner 2000 with an improved cutting head.

Got a great deal on Peasridge.

I can always buy more blades for them. Not a problem. Just a case of trial and error really.

Thought the coarse blades might be better for the Sh*tland so as not to cut too close as he's only rugged in extremes of weather. Poor little blighter is dripping with sweat in the mornings, just from standing in the stable overnight.

He's the best Steve. Wouldn't swap him for all the tea in china!

(Does that sentiment become diluted when I admit to not even liking tea?)
