Horse is currently for sale & I was sure we had found the perfect home and they were coming for a 2nd viewing tomorrow. They were due to move fields today but I asked for this to be postponed untill tomorrow as they are always silly for a few days. YO agreed.

I came down tonight to find they had been moved and they were galloping round, fly bucking generally just going mental :mad:

I bought her in picked out her feet and walked across the yard. (In all the time i've had her she's not once been lame). She was limping a bit so I took her in the school to walk her around to see if it was just stiff but she got worse and worse and ended up not putting any weight on it. Took her back on the yard, felt all up her leg, not heat or swelling at all, gave a thorough hose down to check for cuts still nothing, had a bit of a prod of her foot that was fine.

So I have NO idea what is wrong with the beast, gave her some alphabute & if she's still lame in the morning will have to get the vet.

I'm just a mixture of annoyed, angry, upset etc, I was sure these people were going to have her & they were so lovely

Probably a bruised sole - very difficult to get them to react with just finger prodding.

Bloody anoying though - I would be livid! Stupid people - why didn't they call you to warn you?

Get the vet out quick and hopefully you can get her on the mend soon!

Have the people said they no longer want to buy then?
One of the mares on our yard has come in lame, I think the ground is ridiculously hard :( Ours have only just gone out so lots of fun and frolics were had and I think its just taken its toll.

if the people like her enough they will understand that horses do sometimes go lame and will wait to see if its just a knock. a friend of mines horse went lame the morning they were going to collect, they rand the buyee up and they wanted to wait to see if it was just a knock. they waited and bought him :) they are now happily competing quite highly. the people were adamant that they wanted that horse though :D
 
The Lady doesn't like phonecalls before 8:30 unless unavoidable.
I'm not sure what to say to them either :confused:

It wouldn't put me off if I really wanted the horse, unless it was a serious injury of course, but it sounds like a bruised sole or something like that
 
Sounds very like bruised sole. My mare did this on a hack - I had to lead her home, and she was hopping on three legs by the time I got home. I tubbed her foot in cold water (basically stood her in a bucket) for 20 mins 3 times that day, and left her in on a deep bed overnight, vowing to get the vet the next day if no improvement - she was totally sound by the next morning! Fingers crossed for you...x
 
1) Call the people and be totally straight up. You win some, you loose some. There are other buyers out there.
2) You obviously knew something like this might happen (hence wishing for the postponement) and TBH better for horse it happens now than when newly arrived in new home.
