I sent 6 of my rugs away to be cleaned, 4 of which were T/o's to be re-proofed, went to collect them about 10 days ago and there were only 5, the ponies little rainsheet wasn't there.
I remember packing it in the bag and putting it in the car as it didn't really need doing but thought might aswell get them all done at the same time.
To keep shop keeper happy I said I would go through all my stuff and double check, and she would ring the rug washing lady and ask there.
I have just rung and she has said it's not there I couldn't of taken it in.......... But I know definitely that I have not got it and that I did take it and when I told her that she was adamant that I couldn't of.
Anyway rant over and now have to look to buy another :( grrrrr
 
did they not make a note of what you gave them?
when my rug people collect rugs they write down what is being taken (how many rugs, what type of rug) and what is being done to it (wash, repair)
 
This happened to my friend! and she had heard the lady has been known to put rugs on ebay. She left hers at a equestrian centre in Essex and the woman collects....no reciept given! I now use a lady who writes a reciept out for me.
 
No i payed for 5 as she had only written 5down on her notebook, but when I dropped them off she asked how many and I said 6, she said that she would get them out and tag them ready forthe cleaner, and I just left her to it, I've never had a problem with her before and neither has the lady I work for.
Lesson learnt for next time then, stand with her whilst she checks them in and get a receipt!
I mist definitely do not have it, I have been right through everything and I must say the tack room looks better for it!
 
'fraid if you cant prove it went in there and they say they dont have it its your word against theirs.

if you really dont have it they could have genuinely mislaid it or you've given them the opportunity to be dishonest.

yes, you've learned a lesson and i bet you're kicking yourself now.

Id find somewhere else to get your rugs done if they dont ring you and say its turned up.

Bit silly of them if they have nicked it as the lost business and the bad rep you'll now give them will be worth more than a second hand pony t/o rug.
 
You could argue it out and she may give in but really its your word against hers.

I wouldnt let anyone take my rugs without a list of exactly what rugs are there and what needs doing to
them.
 
That seems a bit unproffesional of the cleaner. I always counted them out, tagged them & gave a ticket for how ever many when they were dropped off or collected for washing. It will be your word against theirs otherwise.

The rugs get collected/delivered from the tack shop by the rug cleaner.
Its the tack shop which labels them ready for the cleaner to collect, and apparently quite a few other large yards and tack shops use the same cleaner, I think it's got mixed up somewhere.
Unfortunately neither me nor the tack shop lady can prove it was ever there!
Definitely a lesson learnt here!
