Totally agree with the above - his buddies would of inflicted far more damage than you have done with one smack.

Agree totally, in fact I would have done exactly the same as you did. If you hadn't reacted how you did how is he to know its unacceptable behaviour? I love my horses dearly, but I wouldn't put up with that without making it clear I wasn't happy.

Don't worry at the trust being broken, I am sure you will rebuild it and hopefully will also have a horse that doesn't try to kill you as you lead it in from the paddock!
