Both my teenage daughters are away.

Em (15) has been gone since Monday - she went up to the Black Country Museum with a friend (and friend's Mum) and is staying to do a taping of Horrible Histories and a ghost tour at Dudley Castle - won't be home until Sunday :(.

Jules (13) left this morning to go into London with a school friend and friend's family - they're eating in a Japanese restaurant and then going to see Legally Blonde - she'll be spending the night and will be home tomorrow.

I miss them both. OH misses them both. Even the dogs miss them both. Daisy has taken to sleeping half in and half out of the lounge so that she can keep watch on the front door.

House is far too quiet . . . no giggling, no bickering, no fidgeting, no Entertainer on an endless loop on the keyboard/piano, no "what is there to eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?," no Chuck on TV, no loud music from upstairs, no phone ringing :(

Now I'm dreading when one or both of them go off to Uni!

On the plus side, OH and I plan to have a steak dinner (picked up something yummy from the farm shop) and watch a DVD on our brand new telly . . . there have got to be some perks to being childless!

Know where you are coming from. My 15 year old daughter did a week's german exchange trip last month. Missed her sooooooooooo much and still had my 10 year old at home. Found Facebook was a help as we were able to "chat" a couple of evenings. Husband encouraging her to go to Uni abroad. I could kill him! Told him I want her local if possible!!!! Makes you realise how much you love them, and what a good friend they are when they aren't around. :)

Oh bless........! Mine are slightly older, one is travelling in Australia, 2nd one hoping to join him soon & 3rd one hoping to go to uni this Autumn. Dog has been depressed since last November, goodness knows how she & I will cope when they all go (OH seems strangely unmoved!). I think the answer is another few equines/canines to fill the gap!

There must be something seriously wrong with me then!! I have 3 kids boy1, girl & boy2 - girl & b2 hate the sight of each other so when girl went to pc camp for 5 days it was like having no kids at all!!! HEAVEN!!! no arguments, no crying, no mess.......wish camp was 2 weeks long :o xx
