The neds off to the vets next Tuesday for scans and xrays of his back (and anything else that needs doing). He pulled both front shoes on Sunday, and farrier doesnt think he can fit us in before he goes to the vets, ive got teh shoes though so just a case of putting them back on

Hes a bit footsore, but is it OK for him still to go without his shoes? Think i may be asking a silly Question though, because he is having a full work up and being footy will not help

A knock on is that i cant lunge him (which needs doing too)

Im at the end of my tether

What do yous think?

does the farrier not know that he needs shoes for the vets? Most are v keen to help when they know why.

Otherwise ask another farrier to do it just this once?

You need him to be as normal as possible as being unusually footy will confuse things.

Good luck I hope it all goes ok

I agree you need shoes on otherwise he isn't going to be his normal self, i would explain to farrier and if not get another one out

ironically, he'll need shoes for the lameness workup - and then the vets will take them off if he needs xrays/scans of his feet..... impossible to give a true assessment if he's footy

If he won't lunge, you can always run with him on a large circle - not ideal and totally exhausting (!) but at least the vet will be able to see him trot in a circle which is the aim.

Best of luck on Tuesday

Yep, they did same with my TB - new set for work up, then pulled them off for xrays
