But went to work today and he was petrified of the chicks!! He was literally cowering at the back of the stable as these little baby chickens came into the barn cheeping. I couldn't help but laugh

Three of ours are trained gun dogs but Molly, the Springer, will never make the grade! She only likes to paddle in water and isn't keen on swimming, but funniest of all, she's scared of feathers!!!!! A couple of years ago, she ran away from some pheasant feathers - absolutely refused to go near them - and a week or so ago, she was in the garden and a small feather fluttered in the breeze and blew across the patio where she was standing....she ran away!!! Mind you, it didn't stop her taking the body of one of my chickens through the house and onto my bed to eat!!!

:D im glad im not the only one who has a dog who is scared of feathers. one escaped out of a feather pillow and got stuck to Todd's nose. he had a full blown panic attack!! he was too busy looking at the killer feather stuck to his nose he kept on banging in to stuff, running round the house like a nutter. i couldn't get it off him because i was in heap on the floor. :p

I'm getting funny looks at work because I've just burst out laughing at this.
I don't have a gun dog (well maybe half, her mother was a pointer), but I also don't have this problem, i frequently find piles of feathers where the pigeons haven't been quite fast enough and that's all that's left of them, have to watch her with the chickens as well or she would have them for Sunday lunch!!!

I'm really lucky we this, they generally ignore the chickens but the guinea fowl up the yard really screams and teases the dogs, I think its been twice when I wasnt watching and the dogs thought they would get their revenge and they just calmly brought this flapping bird and dropped it at my feet. Luckily it didnt die of shock afterwards
