Im thinking of taken my horse cross country I was going to hire out the course with a couple of friends seeing as it's my first time ! I know she should wear tendon and fetlock boots but any other boots or equipment ? Thanks guys ! :D

For XC I would use brushing boots rather then tendon/fetlock boots as they offer more protection.

If this is your relatively recently backed four year old with suspect brakes - proper xc boots all round, overreach boots, neckstrap, and don't forget bp for yourself. I'd also be very careful not to do too much - she is only a baby, after all, and still learning balance and coordination under saddle.
If it's something different, I'd still boot up all round - more protection - and have a neckstrap, and breastplate, for you, so if you lose your balance, you have something to grab on to. BP non negotiable.

Actually, I'm going to stick my neck out here, and suggest that if this is your baby - don't. IMHO it would be a bit like the blind leading the blind. Taking a baby xc for the first time is not something that should be done by someone who has never done it themselves. Perhaps if you were doing it under the supervision of a far more experienced person/instructor, but on the basis of what you have said so far, my personal view is it's not a good idea.

^^ what she said, didnt realise this was the same poster. I wouldnt take her xc yet you have, from what you posted on here, not even started jumping things that will fall down yet and you have suspect brakes (I'm sure I said on that thread not to jump her yet ) its a recipie for disaster! Any horse that goes xc needs to be comfortable and reliable over knock down jumps before tackling any thing solid and fixed.

Brushing or XC boots all round.

I'd only recommend putting overreach boots on if your horse actually needs them. Not all horses need to wear them, and I know of some horses who jump very strangely with those boots on. I also saw one instance of an overreach boot getting caught on an xc fence on the way over. Was not a pretty sight!

Thank you - you are far braver than me ;)

I'll add more, now..........
She's too young, too inexperienced, and needs to be far more established on the flat and over knock down fences before you even think of xc.
If you intend to take her xc at some stage - go and have some clinics/lessons on an experienced xc horse so you will have some idea of what you are doing when you do, and then take an experienced instructor with you.

Guys it's not the baby don't worry ! She's for showjumping only and very she is at it to although I may take her xc schooling in the future but the main focus with her is sj :) and thanks for all the replies as always ! :)
