I'm worried about Rudy

Rudy is my 9 1/2 year old male German Shepherd. He has always been sound. His hips and elbows passed OFA when he was 39 months old. Today he was uncomfortable when I touched his back end to give him butt scratches. Then this evening after our walk he had some trouble getting into the car. I'll see if I can take him into work on Friday to have one of the vets check him over. He can be a shit with others manipulating him but behaves because I make him and I'll muzzle him if he starts to growl. I don't know if he needs chiropractic or something more serious.

Hope it’s nothing serious.
A couple of months ago, my 10 year old Great Dane x Husky who has always been active and fit as a fiddle started to not want to get in the car. We also noticed that she would ‘trot’ on walks but not ‘canter’. I actually had to walk her home from the shore one day because we couldn’t get her in the car at all and she’s not the type of dog you attempt to lift. Fortunately we only live about 2 miles from the shore so it wasn’t too bad!

Spoke to the vet as we couldn’t get her in the car to get her there and they suggested a few days of paracetamol. We gave her paracetamol for a week and rested her with only gentle on lead walks and over the next few weeks we noticed she was happy to run again, albeit for shorter bursts than normal.
I think she had tweaked or pulled something, but I do think she is slowing down a bit now. Whether it’s connected to this issue I don’t know, but off lead now she will have a small run with our other dogs, then happily potters about and leaves them to the mad stuff!
 
Hopefully just a tweak. One of mine stumbled on a retrieve a few weeks back, I was insistent on x rays, but after a week’s rest and slow rehab, he’s 100% again. Hope yours is the same.
