Imaverol for sweet itch

As above really. The midges are already out, it was a good 4 week break from them! I went to the chemist to get some benzyl benzoate but she recommended Imaverol. I've never heard of it being used for sweet itch, has anyone had any experience with it? I'm confused as what to do now, my mind was set on using bb this year but the chemist clearly wasn't a fan and really pushed the Imaverol.
 
Isn't Imaverol a fungicide? I know it can be used for ringworm. i can't see that helping sweet itch. Does the chemist know what you are using it for? I never tell them it's for a horse.
 
That's what I thought. I was very confused. I did tell the chemist what it was for but people are often referred there by vets and they sell wormers, stuff for greyhounds and all sorts of weird things.
The chemist said that she found it the best thing for SI but some of the things she said didn't make sense to me. She seemed to think that a bacterial infection occured where the horse rubbed and the Imaverol would help that. I'd never heard this but she spoke with such authority. It was €38 a bottle (compared with €7 for the BB)so I said I'd do some research first.

Sweet itch is a midge allergy so it won't help for that
A good sweet itch rug and a repellent for the areas it doesn't cover is the best way to deal with sweet itch ime
 
Thanks, you've all confirmed what I already thought. I knew of Imaverol but only to look at. From what I read on the label it didn't look like it would help. I think she might have confuse sweet itch with ringworm as some of the things she said were very odd. I've controlled it over the past 2 years with a rug 24/7 skin so soft and neam oil plus micronised linseed in his feed and it's improved immensely. I wanted to try and stop his misery as much as possible though and really hit them hard in spring, I didn't think spring would start in January! Looks like I'll have to go back and demand the benzyl benzoate.
