My horse has been diagnosed with immune Keratitis. He was on Optimune for a while which cleared things up and I stopped using the drops. One of his eyes has now flared up again and I have started using the cream/drops again. He is permanently in a fly mask. My question related to long term use of Optimmune. Is it something which can be used all the time, adn if so, is it advised or will I create a resistance. From a financial point of view, I am keen not to use it on a daily basic but I’m not sure whether my on /off method is acceptable .

Any advice greatly received

My horse had this condition and I used Optimune effectively to treat it. At first it was 3 times daily and we tapered it off until eventually I only used it at the first sign of a flare up, slightly puffy lower eye lid. I would apply twice daily at this point and continued for about 3 days when I would stop and closely monitor again, flare ups could be up to 6 months apart, usually less though. He was on this regime for approx 8 years until I lost him at 29 to something unrelated. I got a prescription and bought it on line a 1/3 of the price of my vets.
