Immunotherapy and steroid shots

did it help? yeah awful lot of money…
Ahh it did , he was so bad with his breathing and skin it took a while to get him settled with the injections plus I got nebuliser to help with his breathing also , thankfully insurance used st the time but I pay for his vaccines now but I dread to think what he would be like without the vaccine and now much he would need meds and vets without it / he very rarely needs any medication I think in the whole 2 years he’s been on the vaccine needed to give him meds twice xx

mine only has skin issues. i have literally done just about everything except treat gut issues and test for parasites. however i am thinking to sort his gut issues out after his skin has calmed down, as i think it might cause an even worse flare up, but i don’t know? that’s great that the vaccines helped yours! im hoping if i go down this route then it’ll help mine too :)
did you have to stay off antihistamines for some time before the blood test? last injection for mine was well over 21 days ago, he’s currently on prednisolone tablets.
what do you mean by rarely needed meds? meds for his breathing? or meds for his skin?
as well as, how long did it take for him to return back to ‘normal’?
sorry for the overwhelming questions 🥲🥲

Sorry late reply

So had anthihistmines for his skin initially / and a course of ventpulmin for his breathing then had bloods for allergies and scoped airways which had bacteria in them

Once allergy bloods come back he started on immunotherapy as the level had to be increased to the maintenance dose the first 6 months he did require oral antihistamines to allow him to settle but never had any steroid with the risk of lami

After 12 months he’s was only on immunotherapy only and imrobed his skin and breathing as they both fell hand and hand with each other x

12 months of immunotherapy seems like ages, but if i don’t have any other answers soon then i’ll have to resort to this.

so just to clarify, when the vet took his blood was he on any antihistamines?

it takes a while to get into thier system and they have to be built up slowly , no
We was off his antihistimes
/ from my point of view I would hate to see how he would be minus the vaccine I would much rather have a happy horse having a vaccine every month that’s comfortable and happy and having no medication on board versus a very uncomfortable horse and needs medication every day plus he competes so was very limited with antihistimes as has 2 week of not allowed ro
Compete also were the vaccine is competition legal

how did you control his skin issues without antihistamines? i feel like if it took my horse off antihistamines then he would just be one swollen ball…

That’s the whole idea of the immunotherapy vaccine is to make them more immune to what were there allergic too so he has 24
Most allergic allergens into 2 vaccines and he has this every month x
