Imperial Commander wins Gold Cup!

Sooo gutted couldn't watch it as at work - been checking news sites. Was it a close race? I hope kauto is ok and it's a shame denman didn't win but fantastic to come 2nd to imperial commander as that horse is tough - bet it was a great race though hope to watch a replay at somepoint!!!
 
It was so close most of the way between Denman and Imperial Commander but IC just ran away from him at the end. Kauto started well but made a mistake and couldn't come back from it, then tripped over a fence, poor lad.
 
That was a stunning race, masterly ridden and I have to take my hat off to AP. He rode Denman amazingly.

Imperial Commander simply outclassed him - romped home. Stunning!!!!!
 
Kauto was never travelling and didn't look happy from the word go.
That was a horrible fall though and thank God he's OK.
 
I want to watch it now, grrrrr! Anyone know if it'll be shown on t'interweb later? I am not very techy-minded see! Lol
 
All jockeys rode brilliantly, AP gave Denman a great ride, but Paddy was brilliant, and Imperial Commander just had too much toe for him. My heart stopped when Kauto fell, it was horrendous, he went over on his neck........ thank god he's OK........
I can't believe they're talking about the National next year for Denman though :(
 
Yay! i never bet but put £1 each way on Mon Mome. Starting price was 50-1 so reckon that means I get £13 ish!

Better than a slap in the face with a wet haddock!

I bet £1 on him in the national last year since we used to call Monty 'Mon Moan'!!!
 
My heart stopped twice in that bloody race! Can't believe Ruby sat that first stumble, amazing piece of riding. The fall was pretty horrendous to watch, I couldn't believe he got up so quickly and I can't believe he didnt break his neck! So glad he cantered home with Ruby on board, glad both are ok.

Fabulous race :) Very please about the result and it just shows to stop taking it for granted that one of the two would win :D

So glad to see Kauto back on his feet, a horrible fall. I cant fault AP for his ride on Denman just was outclassed on the day

Imagine what it will be like next year ;) :D Oooh, Im excited already ;)

Well done to IC and his connections!

I screamed when KS fell, and I'm no fan of his, relieved to see he got straight up and came home with Ruby on board looking none the worst...

Delighted to see Denman come home safe and sound again!
 
I'm so devastated that Kauto didn't win, silly really, I never even get this excited when I'm competing myself but I think he has been such an amazing horse that he deserved to have a fantastic crowning glory of a win......oh well, that's racing for you! Never works out like a book does it? I thought he was jumping really well at first, gaining ground over each fence whereas I didn't think Denman was attacking his fences at first but after that mistake it was all over for Kauto, just such a shame to see him fall.

Kauto Star never settled there was a runner red colours with red/white striped sleeves running just in front of Kauto that was pulling hard and all over the place it looked to me that Kauto was hindered by the horse. But in the end Kauto was never going to win and good on Nigel to train the winner and then to have his son win the Christie Foxhunter in the next race!!!!
 
Brilliant! My mum recorded the race so got to watch it when I got home. Horrid fall for Kauto but thankl god he seemed non the worse for it. I still think Denman is a machine and he got some nifty short ones in when he got a bit close to some fences. Others, blimey he (and imperial commander) just flew!!!

Fantastic race. The better horse won on the day and made it look pretty easy but I am still a Denman fan!
 
It was Kauto Star's birthday today; I think his present was getting up after that fall.

But a great win for Imperial Commander and a fantastic result in the Christies Foxhunters.
 
Brilliant race, well done IC!!! Love Denman even more now!! Glad Kauto was ok, TBH think they should both be retired now.

That was my thought too. I did think that the only horse that could beat Kauto Star would be Imperial Commander, he is a true Cheltenham specialist. I do wonder if all of PN's horses were on top form this week though. Kauto Star was never running with his usual flair, and I do wonder if he doesn't like the rain!! He'll be back for a 5th King George next season, he seems to like a righthand course better. As for Denman in the National, I don't think he would get round.

Great race from Imperial Commander, and a home win for Twiston Davis.
