A horse has been found in a field in Kent which could be stolen from elsewhere. It is currently in a field with other gypsy horses, and looks out of place. I am trying to locate a legitimate owner, or someone who might be able to identify it as legitimately theirs.

Reason for suspecting it may have been stolen:
Horse is very friendly and is happy to approach you (possibly used to being handled)
Horse has had it's maine platted and is still currently platted.
When it first appeared the horse had fur marks around its neck where it has previously been wearing a turnout rug. It is not now wearing a rug.
The horse is wearing correct horse shoes.

Description of horse:
Horse is very friendly and is happy to approach you.
The horse is light coloured, possibly a ‘palomino'.
The horse IS NOT freeze marked.
The horse is wearing horse shoes.
It could possibly be 7/8 years old but this is not confirmed
It has distinctive darker patches around both of its eyes.

Due to it being in a large field with other gypsy horses, it's health is slowly deteriorating and the quicker we can find its legitimate owner the quicker we can save it becoming diseased, infected or ill. IT now looks shabby due to not being looked after, but upon its arrival was clearly not a gypsy horse.

Any assistance gratefully received to PC 11967 Renshaw at Kent Police.

11967@kent.pnn.police.uk or tel 07870 252 786.

As soon as it is identified as stolen then it can be seized, but until then it will remain on the field and will continue to be at risk of further being stolen or moved, so a degree of urgency is therefore required.

Wonder if someone will come forward, this pony is not on any stolen horse registers, it may be something like the owners have part ex for a hairy cob which is why it is now in a field with them ready to be sold on ? Wonder if the police have bothered to ask the owners of the others horses ?

Just a possibility .. i hope the pony ends up in its rightful place or a loving home soon x

just one question how do you know for exacly this horse has been stolen , the gyspsys might of only just accured it , there are plenty of auctions such as ashford ,duckhurst etc or as surrgested swapped .
if its not registered with the police or any other societys , its not freezemarked and microchipped how can you say its stolen
if i was you i would ask them ,if you know who owns them /or has them

I agree with you ischa all the gypsy horses that used to be near where we lived were very friendly and quite well handled. Thats not really a reason for thinking a horse has been stolen. If it is i hope someone that knows it sees this. Could you get a photo of it on here if your that concerned?

i have gypsys near me and all his horses are friendly but alittle underweight , so friendly that one was actually stolen a while back .

Dear Readers,

I too received the same information about this horse, and was going to post about this possible stolen horse subject to receiving approval first to post article and display actual photos as it could depend on who’s watching here – if you get my drift!

I know that they want to keep certain information from us which is understandable and have already asked if the horse is microchipped and whether the passport guys can be put on ‘alert’, and height (horse/pony) markings etc.

I have pictures of the horse which I think could actually be a ‘pony’ so if you would like me to send you the pictures then please ‘PM’ me with your private email address.

I searched on the web last night and just couldn’t find a stolen/missing on loan match. Perhaps is has been passed on, come from a horse sale/dealer or perhaps going to one.

The word document I have emailed to those you have 'PM-ed' me, the file is rather large and takes ages to load and the pictures are at the end of the document.
If you still cannot see the pictures then I shall pdf the word document and email out to you tonight. Please let me know. Many thanks.

Sorry Greysmeadow it was me having a blonde or possibly grey moment. I hadn't scrolled down far enough! Have forwarded the info to horsey contacts who hopefully have emailed their contacts and so on by now.
