Does anyone have any experience of importing a horse from the States, for example:

1. rough idea of cost
2. rough idea of timescales - I think they need to be in quarantine in the US before they are shipped
3. trustworthy transport company

horse in question is very quiet, 14.3, 4 year old gelding.

Any ideas/experiences/suggestions very welcome

thanks

No idea about cost and company etc, but I know that when exporting a horse from the uk to the US, they must fly to NYC and for a gelding stay in quarentine for a week, I think for a mare for 2/3 weeks and then for a stallion 4 weeks, and during those 4 weeks they are kept in their stable 24/7...
then can be transported form there provided they pass all relevent testd etc...

Contact BBA Shipping or IRT both in Newmarket

30 days quarantine is required.
Costs dependant upon WHERE in the USA
Mare/Stallion or Gelding (gelding is cheaper)
What flight your shipper has got you on to and where it lands in EU
Road transport on top both to from quarantine then to plane
then EU/UK road transport to the destination of your choice

Can be as little as £3000 to £8000

Good luck
