Just want reassurance that the norm ?

Hi, you need to speak to Mary who does all the paperwork for the BAPSH when you import, (everything must go through them) . Go to the BAPSH website and all the info is there, but, speak to Mary she is so very helpful as the process is quite complex. By the way I don't remember anything about your own passport but that may just be my memory. Mary will tell you.

The "authorities" may want proof because the sum exceeds a certain amount and could be part of a money laundering operation, many bigger purchases need evidence you are who you are supposed to be and that you actually exist.

Yeah she's said they need to prove to the authorities who the horse is going to for them and as deffra may want to visit after transport. I'm just a very suspicious person lol

If you move a horse within the EU you are not importing a horse you are moving it between two countries. I think in Spain when you travel a horse you need to notify the office where the holding is and where you are moving to and they will confirm that there are no disease issues. Their database shows the holding under the CAP and what horses are there. That was how it was presented to me , how well the system works in practice I am not sure.
