Lots of fly rugs are now being sold like this. Many are impregnated with Permethrin - THIS IS HIGHLY TOXIC TO CATS!

If you have one, make sure its stored well away from anywhere your cats can get to, including sleeping on it. Permethrin kills cats, in a rather unpleasant way.

Whilst the rugs are a good idea, please protect your cats too.

Coincidence .. I'm in Cyprus and yesterday am there was a very very ill cat outside on the patio ..struggling to breathe very weak and crying. There was nothing I could do and he died soon after. I got suspicious about his symptons and had a look around the house, we'd just moved in the day before, and the landlord had liberally sprinkled ant killer granules behind the house. I was immediately certain that this is what killed the cat. Very upsetting to see and not be able to help. :( I've covered the area over with plastic as the soft earth is so tempting for cats to use as a toilet so hopefully there will be no more casualties. Think you for issuing this warning.

Thanks so much, my fly rugs are bagged up in vacumn storage bags in my back room but I have too cats . Mine are bug rugs with this.

That is so so sad. Thankyou for the information

I didn't realise this, thanks for the warning. Rambo rugs with Vamoose fall into this category and the cats at our yard love laying on rugs.

On another note sadly my cat died a couple of years ago after curling up next to my dog who had been treated with Frontline, poor lad never stood a chance :(

Please be careful using products containing this chemical its lethal!

Bump

Never like the idea of anything we or our pets wear that are impregnated with anything. Over time who knows what could happen. These chemicals are proven killers - why cover yourself in them?

Frontline doesn't contain permethrin though some other spot-one do. It's fipronil in frontline and frontline spray hence it's the only one safe to treat tiny kittens and puppies.
