That is brilliant organisation and forethought. The last time I was unfortunate enough to be out hacking on our quiet country roads when there was a cycle event on, fun ride not comp, I got shouted at by a large group of cyclists for daring to be there. I had stopped and got as far as I could onto the verge as I had a feeling this particular group were not going to either slow down or move from their three abreast positioning across the whole road.

Running events also seem to be causing a problem at times as well. Interestingly all the rude and bad behaviour I and my neighbour have witnessed have been from middle aged men. I have also witnessed competitors shouting at people who are not part of the event but out for a walk to get out of their way.

I'm not very fond of either events atm!

Me neither. I find the cyclists who are just out for a ride are generally really good at shouting "Hello" and being sensible around horses. The sportier ones are less sensible and seem to think they're in the Tour de France, rather than sharing a road with the public.

It's a shame because us vulnerable road users need to stock together really.
