Impressive moustache on traditional coloured cob!

A new livery arrived at my yard yesterday -lovely coloured cob that the owners would like to show -but he has a huge and dramatic looking moustache! The owners intend to get rid of the thing and I know this type are shown with full feather and minimal trimming, but does this include hilarious facial hair? Do any/all coloured cob owners have this to deal with?
 
My big hefty grows one over winter when he is munching his round bale. As soon as the grass starts to grow it rubs off naturally.
I would absolutely never trim it, he has long mane, flares and a floor sweeping trophy of a tail!:cool:
 
Aw bless, I've gotta coloured cob and he's got a bit of moustache and a really hairy muzzle which I will never ever trim.

This is a difficult one innit; personally I'd be very reluctant to trim something that was such a distinctive factor as a tache, perhaps it would even catch the judge's eye and make the horse memorable?

Personally, whilst I can understand the reasons for wanting to trim, it would be a true desecration!!! But then I'm just a purist, and a softy. His tache and whiskery muzzle is what makes my boy so special.
 
I wil be interested in the replies you get on this topic too! sorry to hijack here- I have an 11 month old traditional cob foal whom I purchased to nanny my big horses!!! - he does too!
When he's older I will prob do some traditional classes with him as he's def show quality, very sweet and will be a good education for him too- he has a gorgeous long flowing mane and forelock, long flowing feathers, and, er, a very long flowing beard!!! - bless him! we brush it with a hairbrush!.....
the thing is if I don't trim him, I keep thinking my the time he's 4 we will have to plait it, or he will trip over it!......does anyone else horse/foal have this or is it just mine?!!
 
The moustache and beard will dissapear as his summer coat comes in - piper has the most impressive moustache over the winter.

Some silly woman I knew used to complain someone was cutting her horses moustaches off every spring - she wouldn't listen when told they were just grazing it off/falling out with the summer coat :rolleyes:
 
Stinky gets a nice one though at the moment it has two huge globs of mud attached. Cairo would get a very impressive one that I would tweak into points. Come summer they get grazed off.

For showing a traditional correctly, you can trim the jaw and tidy the outside of the ears if they are very tufty, but whiskers should be left on. I don't trim off Stinky's tash but his is not huge - no more than a couple of inches, and by the time the show season is really underway, it has gone naturally.

I also have to trim his bloomers and his belly fin, but that is it. Everything else is left alone.
