Looking for some schooling suggestions please! I have a h/w rising 9yo cob who finds canter in the school difficult. He tends to rush and ‘motorbike’, falling in through his inside shoulder. He’s a lot of horse to try and keep together so it’s a bit of a struggle. Walk and trot are lovely and soft and the canter transition is balanced... but then it goes wrong! I’m doing a lot of pole work and lateral work in walk/trot and transitions but wondered if anyone had other advice?

Counter canter along the longest long diagonal you can find - aids the balance and straightness.

So pick up canter on 20m circle at A or C, and then change the rein, riding forwards and positively, then set horse up for the next corner etc

I find a lot of canter, trot, canter transitions really helps to improve the canter. Sometimes you have to ‘prop’ them up a bit at first with a slightly forward inside leg to help support the shoulder if they are prone to falling in/motorbiking.
