Can anyone advise as to how I can improve my working border collies fitness. She's 16mth old and very active. She's out with us most days and regularly does work but she's lacking stamina. She's fed on Autarky and raw meat but runs out of puff if the sheep are being subborn. Would a higher quality feed help or is it a case of needing to do more with her to build her stamina? She could do with being a little lighter but she is no way over weight.

All ideas welcome please :)

You could try biking or swimming her. I bike mine (off road!!) he's as fit as a fiddle, can go all day, he swims in the river near us (I just chuck stones in and he chases them!!) and used to swim my old dogs in a horse hydro pool (really builds up their forequarters).

Hill work, sand work, road work, are all good for fitness. Vary the speeds, so a bit, if you can, fast then slow then normal etc. Or a treadmill if you only have little legs like me (which is one reason why I use the bike!!)

You could supplement her with fish or fish oil, eggs, tripe etc.
