I've got a 13 year old mare and I've had her since December. She had never jumped prior to me getting her, she was previously a very successful show horse and a broodmare. She has a super willing temperament and is the type of horse that will go anywhere alone or in company when hacking.
I've been introducing her to jumping since March. She has gone from being totally clueless and trying to step over jumps to making a really nice shape and jumping with real enthusiasm. We are now jumping up to 75cm and my instructor gets us over all sorts of spooky things.
However, my mare lacks confidence and will stop at something new or different.
My question is, is it just a case of practising and getting her used to it and her confidence will naturally improve? Does anyone have any tips or experiences? I am having regular lessons but I'd love to hear from others who have had similar experiences.
