Just wondering if anyone has any tips/exercises they have found work well for improving a horse's balance?

Kenny is a 5yo connemara and was brought over from ireland and broken around this time last year. I then bought him in December. I've noticed he is very dependant on the rail of the arena in trot (more so on his right rein) and was told it was a balance thing.

I'm taking everything back a few steps and working from walk and trot again until he is better balanced so just after some tips :)

Ps. thought I'd add a pic of him just for fun :P

What a beautiful pony :)

Lots of different shapes in the school - loops, serpentines, circles of different sizes, and use the centre and 3/4 lines.

Basic lateral work to get control of shoulders and quarters - turn on the forehand, bit of leg yield, shoulders in/fore and quarters in (just in walk initially).

Work on accuracy - put cones/poles around and go straight from one to another. Maybe even a little bit of polework.

Plenty of work outside the school - schooling in a field if possible (unlikely given the weather ) and hacking to build strength.

Make sure you are sitting straight and be committed to what you are doing and where you are going :)
