The place where i stable my boy, they're is no school, so i cannot get people to watch my position, i feel as if i need to improve if i want to get anyway where as near as good as i want to get. When were out hacking i always lead, and whilst out hacking i dont feel as if i can concentrate on my position as much as maybe i could in an arena, how can i improve my position, and how do i know that my riding is right, and how it should be, Many Thanks.

If I were you I would go to a riding school for a lesson on one of their horses (ideally a lunge lesson) because then you would know what to work on position-wise when you are on your own horse.

Do you have a field you can ride in at your yard?

No they're isn't at the yard, when were out hacking they're is a field that we sometimes go in were we canter, trot etc. And thanks for the advice, we do go down to an arena at least twice a month. I just want to know that i am doing the right thing.

I was going to say that if you had a field plus a camera you could find somewhere like a fence post to balance your camera on to take a video! I find it useful to examine my position on film by looking at leg position (straight line from hip to heel) and arms (straight line from elbow to horse's mouth). Obviously an instructor can be more constructive with you in a lesson but if you can get some footage of yourself you can be self-critical (or ask the helpful HHO members!).
