Improvised/Home-made Mounting Blocks?

What do you use? I'm currently using a highly unsuitable metal stepladder I did have a lovely MB that my OH surprised me with one Christmas...

..... but some ***** bashed into it at the yard with their car and rendered it unusable. OH has said he'll make another but I'm impatient so thought I'd ask on here for inspiration....

I use a very fine plastic crate formerly used for pop bottles - taller than a milk crate, very strong & stable. Found it somewhere & highly recommend.

We use the plastic jump blocks at our yard, or a wall if people are hacking out lol I have one of those tower box/ trolley things to keep my tack in but you can detach the top and its perfect height to use as a mounting block as well
