Im in a pickle and dont know what to do, so thought Id turn to my wonderful fellow hho'ers
as youve given me such good advise before.

Basically I was signed off work last week as Ive torn a muscle inbetween my ribs and am in agony when sat at my desk all day.
I went back to work yesterday and was in so much pain that I had to leave at 3pm.
Im off today, coz I know that as soon as Im back at my desk for half an hour Im going to be in pain again.
I spoke to my doc yesterday and he said that Im not fit for work and he would sign me off again if I wanted him too. I left it, coz I cant really afford to be off (dont get sick pay) plus my boss is REALLY not very sympathetic.
Now the more I think about it, the more Im thinking FOR GOD SAKE GIRL, LOOK AFTER YOUR HEALTH AND WELL BEING and start your maternity leave early!! My main concern is that my ribs wont be fixed in time for when I give birth and just sneezing or going to the loo is painful, so imagine how painful its gonna be when in labour!!

ARGHHHHHH, Dont know what to do.

I spose one saving grace in the financial department is that I had a letter from HM Revenue yesterday and THEY OWE ME £700 :0)
No one has ever owed ME money before!!!

I had a similar problem. Doc signed me off for 1 week at 32 weeks pregnant. He advised that I should have taken 2 but like you, I felt uncomfortable with that and went back in to work. However, I just couldnt concentrate on my work, I was in pain, emotional and felt very stressed. In the end I broke down in tears at my desk and requested that I took my maternity leave at 35 weeks instead of 37. I am grateful that I did as it gave me time to unwind and get ready for my daughters arrival.

I have a friend going through the same thing now and I have advised her the same. Your body and mind just doesnt work the same when you are pregnant. There is a lot going on inside your body and perhaps its your body's way of telling you to slow down!

On the plus side, I also think maybe its a little bit of fate now that you have that extra £700!

Relax and enjoy he rest of your pregancy :D

If you can cope financially then i'd do all you can to look after your health...

Never had a baby but my employers are more than accomodating about this kind of thing, shame yours aren't :(

I would say take the option of starting your leave early, as you don't want to get more stressed than you already are, which could have effects on the pregnancy itself...

Get it sorted, get home and get your blimmin' feet up!

:D

Hmm, such a kuffuffle!
I do seem to spend more time keeping others/work happy and not so much about myself!
Think Ill go see the doc again tomoz and see what he thinks about the healing of my ribs.
Having just been sick, I am wondering if stress is starting to kick in!!

I'm no help as I've never had a baby before, but I'd deffinatly suggest just relax and put your health first, if you don't then you could be hurting for longer.

Great news on the hm revenue - I had two letters from them yesturday aswell with a cheque for £856.60 lol i was all excited as yesturday all day I was panicing about Christmas being here very soon lol :D

Go home put your feet up and chill!

I did a similar thing to you late in my last pregnancy, I ignored it and carried on as best I could, got myself into a right pickle all stressed out and went into labour early! Mind you at 36 weeks he still weighed 7lb 5oz!! It's your body telling you to slow down, so sofa, tv, snacks!
Congratulations and good luck too!
