Ok so I have decided to put on my brave pants and get out there. I have done enough training, schooling and clinics to know that Amber can start some dressage, showjumping and eventing..... Eeek. But if I don't put my money where my mouth is (literally!) I will just procrastinate till the season is over and then think 'oh well there's always next year!'.

SO I have booked in for unaff stressage this Friday - just prelim. (Nice relaxing start)

Then have booked and paid for my stable at a 3 day affiliated show at Weston Lawns where I will be jumping 80/85 (the lowest classes.)

Then I have entered Kelsall in the BE80T. I am going there alone so that one is scaring me most. But hopefully it all goes smoothyly. And I don't forget the dressage test with no caller!

Scared and excited. Expectations for our first real events are very low - just want to get round safely and not disgrace Amber!

Exciting! Make sure you come and do some reports, C&T is woefully short of them at the moment

*makes note to self, must make more of an effort* :D

My thoughts exactly when we finally get out somewhere!

Well done for just going for it AE! In my experience I've found eventers to be the loveliest bunch of competitors so really don't worry about being there on your own. Let the secretary know you are alone and leave a couple of contacts with her for the just in case, you'll find people really friendly and i'm sure if you need any help someone local to you in the lorry park will be more than happy to help.

Cant wait for the report!

Fantastic, I look forward to the very pic heavy reports :D :D (let's face it, your horse is gorgeous, so if you've got it you might as well flaunt it :p)

ETA: any competition efforts on my part are pretty non report worthy but I do also solemnly swear to produce something for people to read

AE can you just move nearer please, then I can come and support you - and hopefully you would come and support me :D Best of luck, it will be great fun :) :)

Shame we are opposite ends of the country - We will just have to support each other virtually!

Thank-you. Yes she is rather fabulous!!

Good! Love event reports.

Good luck AE, well done for taking the plunge.
I am hoping to enter some BE80s in the spring (i’ll be the one on the hugely over excited little 15hh welsh )

Haha got to love a Welshie! My daughter had a Section C for 2 years. He was a livewire!!

Ok so first report... stressage. On my own so no pics.

Challenge number 1 was remembering 2 tests off by heart! I wrote them out in verse to aid my memory which was surprisingly helpful.... so if anyone wants me to PM them P13 & P14 in rhyming verse then feel free to ask!!

Amber was very calm and relaxed and I was so pleased with how she went compared to the meltdown last time out. 1 paddy moment during the first canter when she danced around a bit - not sure why - but the rest of the time she was obedient and willing.

Comments were fair and constructive. But encouraging comments too "attractive mare, shows ability". Scores were pretty low for everyone I thought but I don't have enough experience to know really.

Anyway we scored 62.5 and 62.9 for the 2 tests so something to build on. Very useful to get detailed comments from a respected list 1 judge anyway regardless of score! And gives us something to build on through the year.

Well done :) sounds like a productive outing. I'm intrigued by the rhyming verse, I think you have to explain further! :D

Ok well from a literary point of view it is absolutely dire, however it helps with remembering. And it goes something like....

Track left, circle at E
Between K & A, walk briefly
FXH change the rein
Between H&C walk again
Proceed in trot and circle at B
Give and retake after E
Canter right between F&A
Circle at C, trot F & A and walking By K
KXM walking Free
Proceed in trot between M&C
Canter on after K
Don't forget to circle at A
Down to trot between M&C
Change the rein immediately
Centre line, halt by G.

I warned you it was bad!!!
