This is what a bl**dy neanderthal did to Antifaz
mad.gif
His usual farrier has got a broken hand so I asked around and was recommended one (by someone who should've known better!) He apparently just put new shoes on A's overgrown feet and a hind shoe came off after 10 minutes (he NEVER loses shoes!)

Realising I would get the same rubbish if I got him to go back I THEN got a DIFFERENT farrier (recommended by his usual farrier!) to try to fix it *fume fume* This is result (and actually the photos aren't as awful as the real thing. I actually didn't think he'd done anything more than put the lost shoe back on!! The black stuff on his feet is BURNT OIL!!

Forelegs

Forelegs from the side... uneven anyone??? Notice how close the nails are to the edge.

Hind feet

The different shape and angle is more obvious here...

And with no shoes on it's even MORE obvious

I was sooo furious I just called my own farrier and begged him to sort it out. He did what he could but told me it would take 2 more shoeings to sort him out...

Fore feet trimmed... still not 100% (Antifaz IS a wee bit pigeon-toed)

Hind feet trimmed. Farrier said he couldn't lower his left heel any more without hurting him

Finished fore feet.

So A has had 3 farriers since Saturday and it's MY bloody fault for trying to save his owner a few bob. A valuable lesson learned!!!
Needless to say I paid for the repair myself but I'm sooooo cross! I can't believe A's farrier is recommending this incompetent idiot!!!

God knows how people can get registered like that ?

They don't need to be registered here, which is why I asked for recommendations. I'm such a f*ckwit. I should've insisted to A's owner that we use MY farrier

Yes please. If it wasn't for the fact that I really can't afford to make any more waves at Old Yard (and the fact that he's related to one of the grooms!

) I would've beaten him up with his hammer myself!!
mad.gif

Oh Lord, that's awful!
I know the issue with farriers though, mine wouldn't come out to trim Maiden while she's on field rest as her field is too far out for him. Instead I have the incompetent idiot I have now, who will do for trimming but who I will NOT let near my horse with a nail and a hammer. I wouldn't trust him to nail a painting to a wall. I now have the fun task of either persuading my farrier to come out to Maiden for extra money, or finding somewhere to take Maiden to for her to be shod!

I know good farriers are like gold dust overe here, but they must be more like rocking horse poop in Argentina!

Yes, quite! MY farrier is great, but of course he's pricey and A's is cheap... I will insist on using my farrier from now on though!

I'm just amazed that he wasn't sore! I'm pretty lucky here in the Isle of Man, My farrier at a push will bring my mare in, shoe her and if nescisarry put her back out, and her feet are amazing! Never lost a shoe, no cracks in her hooves etc, but the farriers that are used over here are all redgistered.

God PF what a mess I would be fuming too. I cant believe they dont have to be registered.

Ive been through 3 farriers with C and part of the reason I havent been able to ride her is because of bad farriership..
mad.gif

Finally today my current farrier has now said there is no problem with me lightly riding her and lunging her as her feet have improved fantasticaly and hes really really pleased.
smile.gif

Im sooo happy as at one point I really did think id have to have her PTS if her feet didnt start to come right.

... and you know what REALLY p:sses me off? That everyone else on the yard is such a f*ckwit that he'll keep getting away with it! I complained to A's usual farrier and he didn't give a sh:t!! He said something along the lines of 'don't bother me with that kind of cr*p' !!! I wish I could do something so people realise that a) They're being ripped off and b) They could do some serious damage to their horse!!

id report him, you have the pictures as proof, i do have to ask, why on earth did you stand by and let him do it?

Why would you assume I was actually there when the horse was shod? You can bet your b*ll*cks I would've stopped him immediately and told him exactly what was wrong with his technique! Also, I live in Argentina, not the UK. Farriers do not have to be registered here and I have absolutely no idea who I would report him to. Best thing I can do is warn prospective customers against using him. My own farrier will do the same as will my instructor.
