i am looking to show my buckskin warmblood colt in hand this year and am looking for an in-hand bitless bridle to show him in. can anyone tell me where i can get one from?

A filly slip perhaps? Colts normally have to be bitted but you can use a smart head collar... Dd you check it was ok with show?

i didnt really want to bit him as he is only a yearling this coming may, i dont think he needs bitting and feel it is too soon?

I'd bit him. A nice rubber bit gets them used to it and you will likely need some control.
Even if he is an angel you don't know what the others will be like in the class. Youngsters, I'm sure you know, can be a nightmare in the ring. I've shown foals I wish I had a bit in lol! X

I know how you feel but sometimes show rules dictate colts be bitted. Best to check with show secretary. Never shown in warm blood classes so can't help you there. If there are alternatives, they should be able to tell you what is acceptable :)

Yes you need to check with the show. I came across this with my youngster a few yrs ago, show rules were that colts had to be bitted at all times when on the showground. I thought it was too early to be bitting him so we didn't go showing in the end

rules are usually colts over the age of 2 need to be bitted. I would personally bit but run his lead off the noseband. If you really dont want to bit then I would go for a show slip and chain

Yes that is a good idea of putting a bit in if necessary but leading him off the noseband- never thought of that! if i have to lead him from the bit i feel i prob wont take him.

Personally I bitted my yearling last year, more so as you don't know what's in the ring with you! Just because yours is well behaved doesn't mean anything else is!
