I'm taking Murphy to an in-hand show next Saturday - it's just a little local thing. I plan to do Most Appealing Pony, Mountain & Moorland and Best Condition Pony (he does have plenty of *ahem* condition

We did one in hand class at the yard show last year, and two ridden classes at a local show, but that's all the showing I've ever done.

What should I wear for the classes on Saturday? Can I wear cream jods and boots and a jacket?

Any tips for me?

I'm going to have to get Murphy clean, which might be a bit of a challenge!!!

Is that the one at Mooreland? It's just down the road so I'm very tempted to have a wander down and enter my Springer Spaniel in the dog show for the waggiest tail!!

As for tips, make sure you're wearing boots you can run in!

My OH always wears light trousers if the horse has dark legs, and vice versa if the horse has white legs.
you should be fine with what you said jods, boots & jacket.
good luck for saturday.

Yeah that sounds fine! Wear your hat if you are wearing your joddies, wear a tweed show jacket if you've got one opposed to a black or blue one. Brown bridle again if you've got one! Good luck, its all meant to be fun!

Is there much there? I've not been up before and hadn't even realised it was there until a few weeks ago. Now I just need a pony to take!!

If you see a poor person being dragged around by a nutty Springer...

wear a pair of smart trousers, either light if horse has dark legs or vice versa, with you jacket, shirt and tie and a smart hat, i personally hate to see jods at an in hand show, but if you must wear them you will be fine at that level!!

I've not been there before but the show looks like fun!

I'll be the one being dragged round by a chunky black ponio with a heart on his bum....

I've not got a tweed jacket so it'll have to be a black one I think.

From looking at the website and the schedule it looks more like a bit of a fun show so I wouldn't have though it would matter too much what you were wearing.

bex, I wouldnt worry too much. I went to a local show which is very highly thought of around here, entered the in hand M&M class (me in cream trousers, black boots, hat, show cane, in hand bridle and immaculate horse) only to be beaten by a girl in jeans, trainers and full length chaps on top. And a horse in a normal bridle with a bubble bit. This show is known for being of a very high standard and I was furious that anyone who turned up looking like that was even allowed to particiapte, let alone win.

I think it should be about how BOTH of you are turned out, not just your horse.

But rant over, so as long as you make an effort Im sure youll be absolutely fine
